Chief Minister Rekha Gupta marked her first Karva Chauth in office with a community celebration at the Jan Seva Sadan on Friday. The event drew women legislators, officers, and spouses of ministers and MPs, along with several other participants from Delhi and beyond.

The gathering featured traditional rituals, including the recitation of the Karva Chauth Katha, followed by cultural performances. As the moon rose, Gupta joined other women in performing the customary prayers to conclude the fast.

Speaking at the event, the chief minister said festivals such as Karva Chauth embody India’s cultural heritage and help sustain family and social bonds.

She noted that the Delhi government intends to preserve and celebrate traditional festivals “in a dignified and inclusive manner” that reflects community values.

Several attendees described the celebration as among the most well-organised Karva Chauth events in the capital, appreciating the focus on maintaining ritual sanctity alongside a sense of collective festivity.

The Jan Seva Sadan premises were decorated for the occasion, and participants, dressed in traditional attire, exchanged greetings and blessings, adding to the evening’s atmosphere of devotion and camaraderie.
